We know that the current pandemic has had far-reaching consequences for everyone. At Summit School, Inc., COVID-19 has presented considerable challenges for our staff, students and families. Now, more than ever, our students need the supports and services we provide.

Summit School’s students and the Early Learning Center’s preschoolers are already at risk due to learning differences and potential developmental delays, making the implications of the pandemic even more significant. Learning gaps are evident as teachers and staff put strategies in place to minimize further loss and help students learn in new ways. School days look and feel different with 45% of Summit School students and Summit Early Learning Center preschoolers learning remotely.

Our staff has done a remarkable job uniting and responding to ever-changing circumstances and safety requirements. Their biggest hurdle remains as they strive to repair the social emotional damage and address the mental health concerns of their students and families.

Like many in our nation, our students’ families are facing job loss, food insecurity, health concerns and more, all while filling critical gaps for their children as teachers, counselors, playmates and friends. The stress of family situations, in turn, affects each student’s ability to learn, cope and grow.

While much remains uncertain in the times ahead, we are confident that we can provide the right tools and resources to lift each child up and propel them on a course filled with greater promise. But, we need your support to make this possible.

This Giving Tuesday, please make your annual gift. It is only with partners at our side that we can do the work necessary to address learning gaps and right the pandemic’s damage to our most at-risk learners. Thank you for your support!
