High school students have a number of options
through Summit School. Students may receive 300 daily minutes of
instruction at Summit School or they may return to their home school
for part of their day.
Summit School Coordinates Graduation
with
Students’ Home School
While at Summit School, students earn credits for
their home high school graduation. Summit School is accredited through
the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCACS) so all
credits earned transfer back to a student’s home high school.
Summit staff members communicate closely with the
home high school to ensure students successfully earn necessary credits
to meet graduation requirements. When students are ready to graduate,
they may participate in Summit School’s graduation, as well as,
their home school ceremony. Students receive a certificate of program
completion from Summit School and a diploma from the home high school.
A Variety of Available Courses
Summit offers a continuum of courses to meet the
diverse instructional needs of students and the various graduation
requirements of the home school districts. The program offers a number
of levels in various core classes needed for graduation. In addition to
taking classes in English, math, science and social studies, Summit
School offers physical education, art, computers, technology and other
vocational classes. Each student who is enrolled full time at Summit
School has the opportunity to earn credit in six classes each semester.
